Houston Texans: Following Up with Sara Wood

Many of you may not remember Sunday, December 18th of last year. For Sara Wood, however, the day will be one that she will remember forever.

In a follow up to the story that I wrote just over a month ago about Sara, her husband, and their son, new information has been passed on to me. If you do not remember, Sara’s husband Scott – a Marine Staff Sergeant – died from wounds inflicted by IEDs while in Iraq. The Houston Texans, in collaboration with Operation Finally Home, gave Sara news that would help her begin rebuilding her life. They were going to build her a brand new, mortgage-free home.

Two days ago Sara contacted me and updated me on the situation. February 14th (Valentine’s Day) at 11 a.m. will be the official groundbreaking ceremony for Sara’s new home. It will be in the Kendall Lakes subdivision of Alvin, TX off of Highway 35. She is asking that Texans fans join her at this event in hopes of bringing positive attention to Operation Finally Home and their tremendous efforts to help war widows and injured veterans.

According to Sara a handful of Texans cheerleaders, and possibly a couple of players, will be on hand for the event. Also, UV Country Powersports will be hosting a raffle for a new Kawasaki Teryx off-road vehicle. All proceeds from the raffle will go to Operation Finally Home. Did I also mention that the Teryx will be autographed by artists such as Ted Nugent, Gretchen Wilson, Big and Rich, Cowboy Troy, and others?

So please, Houston Texans fans, veterans, and those who love this great country, show up on February 14th to support Sara, the Houston Texans, and the United States Marines. Also, if you like to RSVP, or talk to Sara herself, check out the Operation Finally Home page for Sara.
