Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub has found his long lost friend, TE Owen Daniels. At the end of last year they seemed to pick up the pace, but now it seems they are clicking on all cylinders. After tearing his ACL 2 years ago, Daniels seemed to lose his ability to cut in his route running last year, but now he seems fully adapted.
His speed is back, his route running is back, and his simple ability to get open is back. Game one against the Colts, he didn’t produce much, but to be fair no one had the chance to perform that game in the receiving core.
Ever since week one Owen Daniel’s has accumulated 14 receptions, 182 yards, and 3 TD’s. 60 receiving yards and 1 TD a game is all any offensive coordinator can ask out of his TE.
Daniels seems to always be in Matt Schaub’s sight in the end zone, and is always open.
As of now, he is the Texans number two receiver, but with WR Andre Johnson out for a couple of weeks, look for Owen Daniels to become Matt Schaub’s number one target.
Also look for TE/FB James Casey’s receptions to go up as well, he has the highest target/reception ratio on the Texans receiving core.
