Houston Texans Shelley Smith Lands on Injured Reserve

The Houston Texans placed back-up offensive guard Shelley Smith on season ending IR yesterday.

In a move expected to help shore up the back-up offensive line the team signed former Bengals G/T Andrew Gardner to replace Smith on the roster.

Gardner is new to zone-blocking scheme and should take some time to become acclimated with both the Texas heat and the scheme here in Houston.

The starting offensive line has held up rather well up to this point in the preseason but the back-up offensive line has been decimated with injury.

Smith likely became expendable because both Kasey Studdard and Antoine Caldwell are currently on the injury shelf as well.
