Amobi Okoye Released but Feels the Texans Will Be In Playoffs

UPDATE:The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with DT Amobi Okoye on a one-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rumors of Amobi Okoye landing in Denver already are emanating since his release from the Texans. In an attempt to pinch pennies and get to where the Texans need to be in relation to the salary cap. Amobi Okoye and David Anderson were both placed on waivers.

Okoye was drafted by the Houston Texans in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft. Okoye was the youngest player to ever be drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft at only 19 years old. Amobi Okoye had plenty of nice things to say about the Houston Texans before his departure.

“My agents went ahead and asked for my release because teams weren’t willing to trade knowing the Texans would eventually release me because of their acquisitions and salary cap,” Okoye said. “My tenure as a Texan was a blessing and fantastic. I thank the McNairs, the administration, coaches and definitely the players and fans for these past years. I will miss every single one.

“See you guys in the playoffs because that’s where the Texans are heading this year.”

We wish both the best of luck with the rest of their careers.
