Texans Thursday Roster Moves – Jason Allen Signed

Following the signing of Al Harris, the Dolphins waived their 2006 first round pick, cornerback Jason Allen. The Texans put in a waiver request and were awarded Allen today. Allen, 27, brings much needed experience to the Texans secondary. He may not be a flashy pick, but the Texans will need him to make some kind of positive impact on their very shaky secondary.

Safety Dominique Barber was placed on injured reserve after having arthroscopic knee surgery this afternoon. Barber has suffered a torn cartilage in his knee during Wednesday’s practice. With Barbers loss, the Texans lose a good special teams player and experienced backup at safety.

The Texans also released center Brett Helms from the practice squad and signed center Cody Wallace as his replacement.
