Texans-Jaguars Preview

The Houston Texans have a very tall order this week when they travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars. First of all the Texans are trying to avoid an 0-3 start as the odds of them making the playoffs with that kind of start is not very good.  The first order of business for the Texans will be to stop the Jaguars rushing attack of Fred Taylor and Maurice Drew Jones. This tandem has produced some very impressive numbers and last week in Indy they showed everyone how well they can run the ball as they amassed over 200 yards rushing against the Colts. The Texans defense will have their hands full and they must keep these guys in check if we want any chance of winning. David Garrard the Jacksonville quarterback is another guy we need to stop as well. The main thing with him is to keep him in the pocket as his running can really hurt us a lot. Getting pressure on him also will be something we must work at also.

On offense the Houston Texans need to have long drives so they can keep the Jacksonville offense off the field. The defense of the Texans will have their hands full so the offense needs to get them as much rest as possible.  Steve Slaton probably will start for Ahmed Green if he cannot go. He is doubtful, but you really never know. I wish we had Green back, but if not we will have to rely on Slaton to carry the load. Turnovers is something you cannot do on the road and if we want any chance to win we must protect the ball as well and force som Jacksonville turnovers as well.

With this all said I think the Texans will play better and keep it close, but I just do not see them winning. I have them losing a close one 28-24. I hope I am wrong, but we will see.
